Vir2 is a division of Big Fish Audio and VI.One is a massive 21 GB sound library, containing around 2000 instruments, drum kits, and sound effects.
VI.One is a versatile instrument, and you could see it as if it would be such as workstations like Yamaha Motif, Korg Triton or Roland Fantom and it competes with other all-around sample libraries, such as Halion Sonic 2, XPand!2, and Shortnoise, just to name a few.
The interface is quite straightforward: at the left, all instruments are organized by type: Drums, FX, Guitars, Organs, Pianos, Synths, etc. When you click on an instrument, it is opened in the rack as usual. There are controls for reverb, EQ, and envelope, although some instruments, such as basses and synths, might have additional knobs for filter parameters. Drum instruments can have available Room and Overhead controls to set.
The main instrument categories are Bass, Drums, Drum Loops, Ethnic and World instruments (organized by region), FX, General Midi, Guitars, Keyboards, Organs, Pianos, Orchestral (Brass, Harp, Percussion, Strings, Woodwinds), Pop Horns and Brass, Modern Synths and Vintage Synths.
